Ranking well in the search engines for highly competitive phrases takes more than just on-page SEO tactics. It takes backlinks, and lots of them.
A backlink is simply when the owner of another website or blog links to your site. As you’ll see, a few high-quality backlinks can be far more powerful than anything you do on your own website.
To search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN, when someone links to your site it’s like they are voting for it. Someone thought your content was valuable enough to link to, so it must be important. The more people linking to your site, the more important it must be.
Even more important than the number of links to your site is the anchor text. Anchor text is the visible, clickable text of a link.
On the web page, the anchor text is what readers actually see.
Search engines see anchor text too, and they use it as a way of determining what your site is all about. This is why you want anchor text of incoming links to include your main keywords whenever possible

There are three major reasons for metatag confusion and why Yahoo does not categorize your website – geographically speaking.
    1. The besides containing the reference to “Los Angeles,” also references “LA” which does not necessarily limit this abbreviation to Los Angeles, but can easily be mistaken for the State of “Louisiana” which is “LA.” So, removed the “LA” entry in the
2. There are “Two” <keyword> metatags and each contain spamdexed/duplicate entries. One of the <keywords> contents has to be removed: and finally,
3. The
metatag is in the wrong format which is normally a singular sentence describing your services: Not a mere listing. So, recompose the various services into a singular sentence, beginning with the statement: “We offer chiropractic services ranging from …… and our facility is located in ……. etc.”
Here’s a Google/Yahoo tutorials which explains more clearly placement and design of metatags:
Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.
And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.
Good luck!
</keywords></keyword>
