Non-hispanic Whites Are Now A Minority In California, According To New Census Data.?

“I think it’s kind of peculiar and kind of comical that people are shocked that the number of Latinos are going up,” said Gregory Salcido, 32, a history teacher at El Rancho High School outside Los Angeles. “No matter where you go, you’ll see people my skin shade.”
The Golden State added 4.1 million people during the 1990s, more than the individual populations of 26 other states. But the state’s 13.8 percent growth rate ranked only 18th nationally.
With 33.9 million people, California is easily the most populous state. Nearly one of every eight Americans is a Californian and the state’s booming economy, fueled in part by a huge labor force, is ranked sixth in the world.
California is gaining one congressional seat because of its growth, its smallest delegation increase in 80 years.
The Hispanic population nationally grew by 58 percent to 35.3 million, or about 13 percent of the U.S. population. Nearly one in every three Hispanics nationwide lives in California.
California joins New Mexico, Hawaii and the District of Columbia where non-Hispanic whites are also in the minority.
A 27 percent increase in the Asian population in California was due mostly to immigration, according to the state.

Hispanic people have always been here, people are just becoming freaked out now by the media circus of election year politics.

What exactly is your point? Was this news to you? This has been predicted for some time. Some counties in Florida are the same.

This is great news! 4 down, 46 to go!
(I’m not sure but I think Texas is part of the club as well)
Hawaii has always been like this. It’s never been a problem. In fact, there is no “Majority”. Everyone here is a minority. There is almost zero racial tension because most people are mixed or two or more races. No one thinks twice about it.
As you know… Hawaii is also very nice place to visit. This is partially due because of the people who live here. The people are very relaxed, easy going and hospitable.
A diverse racial mix is a huge benefit and nothing at all to be worried about.

Remember, California and some western states were taken away from mexico, so it wouldn’t be a suprise if there are more “White” Hispanics, or hispanics period.

Yes, we are considered the minority here now. Yea! I want affirmative action now. I want welfare, now, Let the illegals take care of me for a change. And I don’t mean picking my fruit.

“White” doesn’t happen to be our comfort zone boundary. Now if we legal Americans were in the minority, and our culture were, that would be different.
    However, we aren’t.

Well the real brain-bender here isn’t whether there’s hispanics in California, the question is when california’s going to go ahead and unite itself with Mexico. Personally I couldn’t care less,
I was never really very impressed with California, now even less so now that we’ve seen what they think of immigration laws.
But, time will tell what happens….I have no problem learning some spanish, and they can wander around waving whatever flag pleases them, I mean it’ll be kind of sad reducing the USA to 49 states from 50, but we’ll just have to muddle along somehow, I guess…

Then why are they complaining? They are the wealthiest state and pays the most taxes of any other state.
It has been good for California to have so many immigrants.
So what are they complaining about. Maybe the other states could take a lesson from that and get good growth.

Not quite right-many are of mixed-neither one or the other.

AND in the past 20 years, California school system has gone from the top of the list to the bottom. Even the backward schools in the deep south rank much higher than California….
Wonder why the educational system has spiraled downward so drastically?
